In almost every industry we have seen the enthusiastic adoption of mobile technology, and in each industry mobile has helped businesses to operate faster and even more efficiently than before. Mobile technology has enabled the businessman; fitting in seamlessly with their busy lifestyles where they are constantly on the go and need information, quite literally, at their fingertips.

Mobile has also enabled businesses to become more effective, more connected with their customers, and helped to open completely unimagined new doors for improvements to sales, business processes, engagement strategies and more.

Many of the industries previously thought of as old-fashioned and entrenched in old technology, such as Finance, have in the last few years made leaps and bounds in technology, by developing mobile apps to interact with their business in a uniquely mobile way. Some examples of these are mobile apps for insurance claims, banking apps for mobile banking, and accounting apps for finance on the go.

Power BI on your mobile too; powerful reporting in your pocket

The modern CFO wants access to their data wherever they are, as well as flexibility. Microsoft Power BI’s mobile capability means that they can easily view their data from their customised dashboards on their phones or tablets. They are able to zoom into certain data simply by tapping on a point in a graph or a block in a pie chart, which changes the data accordingly to that item. This way they have access to live data immediately from anywhere, so that they can view real-time data and engage with it in an interactive way.

The Power BI mobile capabilities are feature-filled; allowing users to customise their dashboards, filter data by their geographical data (using their device’s geo-location), scan barcodes on products in-store to display only reports related to the scanned value, and so much more. Everything that you need to have access to, you can view, edit, and interact with on your phone or tablet device.

How smart CFOs are using their mobile dashboards to report more effectively:

Smart CFOs are starting to manage their businesses through the exceptions because they know that they can trust their systems to record the data as they should. Not only that, they are using stunning and creative visual dashboards that tell their data’s story as a graphical representation. Mobile is absolutely suited to this format, allowing CFOs to see at a glance what is happening in their business, whether it be about their stock, money, or customer satisfaction, it can all be represented by graphs on their dashboard from their mobile device.

In general, however, the Finance industry has not yet made the move towards graphical exception reporting, but we are seeing more and more finance leaders starting to make a difference and embrace the technology.
