As a finance professional, Microsoft Excel probably features quite heavily in your day to day business function, and you feel very confident using it. What about when there is a lot of data, and you don’t know where to start? It can be quite intimidating and working with large amounts of data can come with its own problems too. But it doesn’t have to be something you shy away from; more data just means more opportunity for valuable insights.
This is why we plan on running a series of half-day and full-day Microsoft Power BI course for anyone who is working, or would like to start working, with large amounts of data in Excel. The course will discuss how you can get started with the Microsoft Power Query add-in for Excel, and will cover data discovery, shaping and merging data and briefly introduce the M formula language.
Sign up now and learn to leverage Power BI
Measuring and monitoring business activity is a pivotal part of the modern business, which is why it is so important to have the right tools to facilitate it and, more importantly, to have the necessary know-how to leverage them.
The Introduction to Power BI course is going to help you navigate the steps of preparation to produce analysis-ready data using Power Query, which helps to filter and shape the data before you can analyse it. Power BI is a powerful ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) tool fit for this process, but it can be complex to use, which is why our course will be valuable for both you and your business.
About the Power BI course
Our half-day introductory course has been divided into easily digestible chunks of information that help you understand the role of Power Query in a Power BI context, as well as the process in which you shape and filter your data so that it is analysis-ready, and thereafter how to merge and aggregate your data using Power Query.
After completing the course you will be able to:
- Understand the role of Power Query within the Power BI offering
- Understand what is meant by “analysis-ready” data
- User Power Query to shape and filter data
- Use Power Query to combine and aggregate data
- Use Power Query to import and manage external data
The full day course we offer has the same content as the half day course with some more advanced topics in addition. These topics include some practical techniques of loading multiple files from one folder, text and date functions, leading and refreshing data, combining data, unpivoting columns, more data conversions, and custom functions with M.
If you complete the course you will be fully equipped with the essential techniques for implementing self-service ETL solutions using Power Query for Excel, enabling you to confidently tackle large quantities of complex data and churn out reports that you can rely on.
Due to popular demand we have launched a second course for July
